I am writing to you as I have been chosen from thousands of young people around the world to represent my country, Nepal, at the One Young World Inaugural Summit in London, February 2010. The purpose of One Young World is to give a voice to young people who have exhibited leadership potential in their community. The Summit gives young people a place to engage, share ideas and have their voices heard about their future. It is supported by Kofi Annan, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Bob Geldof among others. As a One Young World candidate, we will be addressing the following six issues at the Summit in 2010:
• Developing Political Leadership for a positive future
• Global Business and its role in shaping society through the economy
• Inter-faith dialogue on world religion and spirituality
• The Environnent and it’s protection
• The Media: its changing identity and its power
• Global Health challenges
One Young World leaders are drafting resolutions with Oxford University. These will be distributed internationally to global institutions such as the UN, The World Economic Forum, and TED. One Young World will become a unified voice of the next generation for every sector, almost like a 'Youth Kyoto' or a 'Young UN'.
