Essay Competition: Youth Entrepreneurship in times of crisis

DEADLINE: September 22nd, 2009

Young people worldwide face difficult labor market prospects. Depending on the region, youth unemployment is easily 2-3 times higher than for adults. Especially in developing countries, the school-to-work transition can be a long and tedious process, during which young people leave school, become jobless and spend time moving between unemployment, inactivity and informal employment. In fact, youth have often been found to effectively act as a "buffer," absorbing s… Continue

Hi Leke,
How have you been, fine I believe? Have u ever taught about a Reach-out programme to student union governments in our tertiary institutions? Having interracted with University students for some years now I have seen that there is a dwindling of leadership capability and quality among the student leaders. Most of the student leaders nowadays are bereft of understanding and lack depth of reasoning as such the only thing they use to lead the student populace is "aluta continua" but with no victory certain for the future. The eagerness with which they take to staging discos, parties to the total neglect of intellectual development of the student populace will leave one in no doubt about the kind of leaders are being brewed for the future. This makes me seriously afraid for the tomorrow of Nigeria.
Please direct your searchlight towards these youths and i am eager to help out.

Dedeke
here is no leadership training put in place for them, as such you see them playing their politics not so different from their fathers outside.

Your comments on RESTORING DIGNITY is quite needful and need be said so that the advocates of NEEDS may sit up and actually give what is needful to youth development and help youth to grow on a value-based foundation. Keep saying it and keep doing what you say
